General Information On Roofing Mops

Glasphalt is a superior material for roofing mops. It is not affected by hot asphalt like cotton. It will not burn; it must wear out. Glasphalt applies asphalt easier and more uniformly than cotton. These qualities of Glasphalt result in substantial cost savings as well as better and easier application of asphalt.

To prepare your Glasphalt mop for the next day’s use, simply remove excess asphalt, spin and let set overnight on a piece of felt or asphalt wrapper. Reheat in the morning in a mop cart or bucket. Reheating time is only 5 to 10 minutes.

Cotton absorbs asphalt and increases the weight of the mop. Glass fibers are non-absorbent and deliver most of the asphalt to the deck. A 32 oz. cotton mop will be heavier than a 5 lb. glass fiber mop.
